The Starfish Story

Once upon a time, there was a wise man who used to go to the ocean to do his writing. He had a habit of walking on the beach before he began his work.

One day, as he was walking along the shore, he looked down the beach and saw a human figure moving like a dancer. He smiled to himself at the thought of someone who would dance to the day, and so, he walked faster to catch up.

As he got closer, he noticed that the figure was that of a young man, and that what he was doing was not dancing at all. The young man was reaching down to the shore, picking up small objects, and throwing them into the ocean.

He came closer still and called out "Good morning! May I ask what it is that you are doing?"

The young man paused, looked up, and replied "Throwing starfish into the ocean."

"I must ask, then, why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?" asked the somewhat startled wise man.

To this, the young man replied, "The sun is up and the tide is going out. If I don't throw them in, they'll die."

Upon hearing this, the wise man commented, "But, young man, do you not realize that there are miles and miles of beach and there are starfish all along every mile? You can't possibly make a difference!"

At this, the young man bent down, picked up yet another starfish, and threw it into the ocean. As it met the water, he said, "It made a difference for that one."

earth hour.

ilang days ko na din tong naririnig sa local news namin dito sa naga, pati sa station of the cross kanina sa church inadvertise din to ni father so lulubus-lubusin ko na din at pati sa bloggywood e iadvertise din to.

earth hour. maybe you heard about it already, pero gusto ko pa ring ishare para mas madami makaalam.. its a campaign against global warming. the idea is that we will let the world leaders know that we are concerned about our mother earth and we should fight global warming. so on march 28, 2009, at 8:30-9:30 PM, wherever you are in the planet, there would be a global election between earth and global warming. to vote for earth, you must voluntarily switch off your lights (and any other appliance that eats up a lot of electricity) for an hour. in short, one hour na BLACKOUT AT YOUR OWN WILL!! 81 countries and over 1,800 cities had pledged to join this campaign. here in naga, the church bells will ring at exactly 8:30 PM to remind everyone that the earth hour had started plus there would be police patrols going around the city with its sirens on.

in this way, we could do something to help save mother earth. i, myself, don't want my future grandchildren and their grandchildren to live in a devastated earth (who does anyway?) and so this is one of the littlest thing we can do to ensure their future.

and so para pampakonsensya (ahehe) here's the video pres that we always show during our LTSs.. its A Letter From The Year 2070. its from a magazine published in april 2002.

sabi nga ni ate ace during her talks (siya naghahandle ng envi leadership talks e, pang self-awareness lang ako. ahehe..), "this could be possible, who knows what will happen in 2070? maybe during that time they had invented a machine that could send messages to the past. this letter might have been sent back to 2002 to warn all of us." tama naman diba? anything is possible and so whether this letter is true or not, we should take ACTION! and sabi nga sa last part ng video pres: "DON'T LEAVE THEM (your children) HELL AS LEGACY, LEAVE THEM LIFE!"

sabi ni mama kanina after the station of the cross, sasali daw kami. im so happy naman di ko na xia kelangan iconvince. haisk. now im excited for 03.28. i hope many would participate. oops, di ito simpleng lights out lang because the results of this election (earth vs. global warming) will be reported at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009. if this would be successful, then malamang finally all world leaders would open their eyes and address global warming. :)

haiz. sa mga oras na ito ako ay 22 years, 1 month, 19 days (and counting) old na. pero bakit feeling ko e 5 years old palang ako na nagsisimulang magadjust sa bagong environment.. kung noon nagaadjust sa pagpasok sa school.. ngayon nag aadjust na salubungin ang adult world. tsk. mahirap pala maging adult. ngayon ko lang kasi ito nafeel. siguro nga dahil sa 22 years ng aking buhay, never pa akong nahiwalay sa family ko, except nung 1 month manila affiliation namin, pero mabilis lang din naman ang 1 month. nasanay ako na naanjan sila, yung tipong everything ay sinusubo lang sayo. yung tipong kahit simpleng household chore di mo magawang perfect. hay. even after graduation kasi binibaby pa ako. kaya ngayon na RN na ako, nakakahiya naman if ill continue with this lifestyle. siyempre gusto ko din naman magkaroon ng sariling buhay.. ng sariling career. kea goodbye na sa paghilata at hello sa real world. sana naman di ako lamunin ng real world. at gagawin ko naman ang lahat para makasabay sa agos ng buhay. naniniwala din kasi ako na kaya natin ang anumang pagsubok sa ating buhay. depende na lang ito sa atin if we will choose to triumph our own giants or kusang magpapatalo na tayo dito.

isa din sa mga realizations ko for the past years.. e i could have done better if i chose to push myself harder. lagi kong sinasabi sa iba na give your best shot in anything you do. pero looking back, parang di ko ata nabibigay ang aking 100%. parang nakuntento na ako sa average at sa good, di na ako nag-aim ng better at best. siguro nga natatakot ako to go beyond my comfort zone na kung tutuusin beyond your comfort zone is your growth zone. haiz. i hope its not too late for me to go on my growth zone.

kaya naman ngayon im really gonna push myself harder. di na ako matatakot.. siguro naman my 4-year preparation is enough para makapagstart ng career. and para mamotivate ako.. i need to set my goal for 2009. dapat this year matapos ko ang lahat ng trainings na kelangan and makahanap na ng work either dito or in anywhere. time is gold ika nga. kea i have to start my life na.

sabi nga diba ang buhay ay isang journey. at eto nanaman ako, nasa starting line. pero anyhow, this time ill do my best na pagtagumpayan ang bagong journey na ito. not only for myself, pero para na din sa family ko at sa Kanya, for His greater glory.

salamat kay supergulaman sa tag na ito.. dahil din kasi sa tag na ito, napilitan akong gawin na ang mga pinag-uutos ni father dear.. ahehe. bagong reformat kasi ang pc namin last thursday, pinapainstall ni papa yung mga churva dito sa pc, so ayun finally, nainstall ko na ang scanner and others na kelangan iinstall. ahehe.

anyway, balik sa tag.. eto daw ang rules..

1. Write down who tagged you.
2. Answer these:

• your name / username / pseudo
• right-handed or left-handed?
• your favorite letters to write?
• your least favorite letters to write?
• Write “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.”

3. Tag five persons.

i remember when i was in grade 1, i envy one of my classmates kasi ang ganda ng sulat niya. as in, super aligned and parang type-written kahit that time we were just 7 years old.. we were trying to imitate nga her handwriting pero talagang the best yung sa kanya. and after several years nung nakasama ko uli xia sa review center this time, grabe ganun pa din. ang perfect ng handwriting nia.. yung mga notes nia pwede na pang handout. ahehe.

sabi daw sa isang article on graphology, each person has a unique handwriting.. kahit daw super look alike ang handwriting natin, there's still a difference. oo nga naman, we have different styles and ways kung pano magsulat, and sometimes, i believe na your handwriting reflects your personality. kasi diba kung ano ang present handwriting style mo is a product kung pano na mold ang hands mo sa pagsusulat. take for example, when you were in grade school and studying how to write, tapos your teachers were very strict so you were also very diligent sa pagsulat kaya when you grew up your hand writing is very legible and clean.. at the same way, when you were just a kid tapos you were so lazy na magsulat then probably today, magulo din ang handwriting mo.. lahat ng tao ibat ibang pinagdaanan kaya talagang iba iba din ang way natin sa pagsulat. our handwriting is just an example kung gano ka-unique ang bawat tao.. parang its reminding us that each of us is special in our own unique ways..

si zyra. a very close friend since grade school. we're classmate since grade4 but we became close together with our other vandalism rulz friends in grade6. oi, di kami bad students ah. we called our group vandalism rulz kasi we're used to writing kahit anong kaekekan sa isang piece of paper.. we even write each other kahit pa we see each other everyday (back then). and after grade school we went to the same school for hs until we got separated in college (but we do contact each other and see each other if we can.) we grew up almost together. the other day nga nung nagchachat kami together with bhing, we realized how much we've grown. dati dati yung mga topics namin pag nauusap e backstreet boys, n'sync, tapos nung highschool, yung mga crushes namin, tapos ngayon more serious relationships na. haiz. time pass so fast, pero yung friendship namin e nanatiling matatag and solid. perhaps im lucky to have a friend like her, like them.

si zyra naman is a very good friend. actually lahat naman sila eh, coz i guess if they were bad friends then our friendship wouldn't last this long. like sisters, we know everything about each other, as in EVERYTHING! (ahaha, *big grin*), we listen to each other kapag may prob and look for each other.. well, i love her much and i want the best for her. haiz. looking back through all those years, sobrang happy and contented ako to have her/them.

this is where everything begins. lets do some backtrack. ise was my classmate in first year college but we were just the hi-hello-how-are-you-type of friend. well, i had my own circle of friends then and she has her's too. but when we were resectioned in 2nd year, i was separated from my then-new-found-friends and she was too.. so eventually we became closer. we always stick by each other as we venture in our new class. the whole adjustment period, we were there for each other, supporting each other, and apparently we became best of buds. then from ise and i, we became JITS (when we met sam and tet) then JEMIST (with emcie and maie entering the group) and today's JAEMMIST (with angie and marian as our latest recruit. haha.) we're like sisters and even call each other 'laopos'. we know the deepest and darkest secret of everyone of us. and we oath to protect and love each other just like real sisters.
ise, even the youngest in the group, is the most mature among us. yea. she's independent and strong-willed. she's one tough lady that you don't want to mess with. ahehe. don't get me wrong. she's kind and everybody likes her. but once you argue with her and she knows that she's right, she would stand by it no matter what. she has her own 'diskarte' in dealing with things. she knows when her boyfriend flirts with other girls and would end up being friends with that 'other' girl. haha. but though sometimes her lovelife is on the rocks, still at the end of the day, she's the one who stands out.

she's also a very good friend. she's the helping hand that you can always turn to. she listens to you and helps you in making decisions. especially for me, sam and tet who are type6. (enneagram test) haha. she's always there to support me in my csg affairs and so i am also ready to back her up in anything that she would encounter.

she's a responsible daughter and ate to her siblings. i admire her courage in facing every trial that comes her way and in all that trials, she always ends up successful.

meet one of my wives. sam. i met her way back first year college. she was the crush of my 'kuya' [highschool friend]. but we became closer when we were in 2nd year. she sometimes act like a child but she's a fragile lady inside.. waiting patiently for the love of her life. ahehe. she got bad mood sometimes, but apparently we got used to it that we already know that her bad mood would pass after an hour or less.. coz sam's a very kind person. i'll tell you, she cant stand being angry for 24 hours! lol. she's sweet and caring. and very thoughtful indeed.

i know when she's irratated or even when she found someone cute just by seeing through her eyes. i dont say i can see within her. lol. but i can sense her emotions coz her eyes speaks so much. perhaps its just the bond that we have that we were able to establish through those years.

she's a very good friend. she has the ears that listens, arms that welcomes you when you're down and nowhere to go. i remember several times that i cried in school and she was always there to comfort me. she gives you encouragement when you feel like giving up. and the unforgettable jia you to boost you up.

she also has her own antics that always make everyone of us laugh and be jolly amidst trials. she has that optimistic view that radiates and is transmitted to us. she's also a responsible daughter and sister. sam's one great lady. and im so proud to be her friend.
